Your Chance To Talk To The Winemakers
Charles Sichel of Château d’Angludet finished his stint as resident wine sage with artisan wine website Fromvineyardsdirect.com yesterday, as part of the etailer’s “Talk to our Winemaker” season of forums with some of Europe’s most inventive winemakers.Lilian Barton of Château Leoville-Barton (right) has now taken her place at the keyboard and will be available to answer wine questions from anyone logging onto Fromvineyardsdirect.com from today until 22nd July.
Talk to our Winemakers was the inspiration of partners David Campbell and Esme Johnstone, the two men behind the online wine emporium. Using David’s years of experience as the publisher/owner of the Everyman Library, together with Esme’s wealth of wine knowledge as one of the originators of Majestic Wine and then later of Château de Sours renaissance, the premise is a simple one – to offer wine lovers the chance to meet the names on the wine labels as one might meet one’s favourite author at a book signing.
The format is simple. Log on to Fromvineyardsdirect.com and click on the Talk to our Winemakers link, post your question and within twenty four hours you will receive your reply - From Winemaker Direct! Lilian Barton has agreed to spend the next two weeks answering questions and talking about her philosophies and viticultural principles.
Lilian is the daughter of Anthony and Eva Barton and is married with two children and a veritable menagerie of animals. She runs Château Leoville-Barton (2nd growth St. Julien) and Château Langoa Barton (3rd growth St. Julien) with her father Anthony Barton who is still very involved in the winemaking. The Châteaux produce some of Bordeaux’s most sought after wines. Always top quality, they offer a remarkable taste of this premier wine region at an affordable price.
