Try a fresh taste of the far east with new wines at Morrisons Morrisons are to launch two fantastic new wines hailing from the North-west of China. The Silk Road Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay have a background packed full of history that you can practically taste in every sip.

Silk Road Cabernet Sauvignon, £5.99

A medium-bodied red that is soft and accessible, it has well-defined aromas of raisin, plum and walnut, with a savoury, slightly smoky, spicy finish. Mellow, with soft tannins, this wine would be excellent with poultry and lightly flavoured red meats.

Silk Road Chardonnay, £5.99

This wine has an attractive lemon yellow colour, shot with green tints. Its delicate citrus and banana aromas lead into a soft, creamy palate with a long finish. Perfect to go with seafood dishes such as prawn and vegetable stirfry, scallops, ginger and spring onion, or even simple salads.

Once harvested, the wines, which are produced from an ethically run vineyard and winery*, begin the long four day journey along the ancient Silk Road to the port of Shanghai before travelling across to Europe and eventually making their way onto the shelves of Morrisons stores nationwide.

Why not celebrate Chinese New Year this year (6th – 9th February) with Silk Road wines at the special offer price of £4.99 from the 28th January to 9th March?
