Magnet launches £10K SOS for kitchen DIY disasters

Does your kitchen let you down? Is it stuck in the 1970s? Or maybe your appliances are more embarrassing than integrated? If the answer is yes, then the bad news is that you could be decreasing the value of your home by thousands; the good news is you qualify for Kitchen SOS and could win your dream kitchen, worth £10,000.

The experts at Magnet want the UK to love their kitchens and were shocked to discover the average UK home harbours at least one DIY blunder – with many of us tackling jobs such as fitting a kitchen with disastrous results. Because of this they decided to launch a nationwide search to find the kitchen most in need of a makeover – encouraging people to face up to their kitchen nightmares and send pictures into the Magnet web site.

The kitchen that is voted the most shameful will receive a £10K make over courtesy of the experts at Magnet and the five runner-ups will win a flip down TV to update their tired old kitchen.

ITV’s This Morning’s Interior Design expert Andrea Maflin comments: “The kitchen is without doubt the most important room of the house – it’s the heart of the home, so getting this room wrong can affect the entire balance of the household. It’s frightening how many people take on the massive project of fitting their own kitchen, without really knowing what they’re doing! Avoiding the experts only ends up costing you more money in the long run and you run the risk of devaluing your home rather than increasing its marketability, which a super fitted kitchen undoubtedly will.”
