Baking and roasting produces grease, cooking odours and suspended matter which all soil the interior of the oven and leave behind ugly traces of grease. The grease laden air can also escape into the kitchen leaving a greasy film on cupboards and worktops which can become a breeding ground for bacteria. The patented okotherm oven catalytic converter developed by Kuppersbusch transforms the dirty greasy air emitted during cooking into clean air. The oven fan forces the polluted air through a ring shaped catalytic converter where the air is cleaned. The cleaned air is then recirculated back into the oven, keeping the oven gleaming and energy bills down. Since okotherm cleans the air inside the oven, only clean air is expelled into the kitchen, helping to keep the kitchen free of greasy deposits and nasty odours.

Energy savings are made with the okotherm because there is no need for the extreme temperatures, often up to 500oC, as required with the pyrolytic process. Because okotherm cleans as it cooks there is no need for the oven to be heated uneconomical high temperatures so no extra time, nor additional costs, are incurred. The okotherm system utilises the heat generated during the conversion process for heating the oven thus cutting down on the consumption of valuable energy even further.
