Get in it to get out of it for bed month Get in it to get out of it for Bed Month! That’s the message from Benson’s For Beds, Britain’s biggest bed retailer. With the annual bed fest due to kick off on March 1, Bensons says finding the right bed is key to a great night’s sleep.

“Once you’re in it you can, quite literally, be out of it,” says Benson’s sleep expert Simon Williams. “The right bed will gently support the hips and shoulders and help you achieve a comfortable, refreshing night’s sleep.”

For those who aren’t sleeping well, Bensons is urging everyone to make National Bed Month the time when they do something about it.

And they’ve come up with a surefire solution to work out if it’s your bed or your body that needs adjusting!

According to Simon, it’s probably your bed that needs changing if:

- It’s more than seven or eight years old
- It dips in the middle, creaks or you can feel springs or ridges under the surface
- You wake up with neck or back ache
- When you go away you get a noticeably better night’s sleep in another bed

He adds: “If your bed is comfortable, you have an established wind down routine and sleep in a well ventilated, dark room, then once you get into bed, falling asleep should be as easy as falling off a log.”

If it isn’t and lack of sleep is a persistent and ongoing problem, then it could be time to look at your diet, exercise regime and stress levels. “If all else fails then it could be time to see your GP,” says Simon.

“Fortunately for many of us, that is the last resort. For most it’s a matter of getting the bed and the bedroom environment just right – and when we do, there’s nothing better than being completely out of it once you’re in it!”
