Rock on the Danube with easyJet
Budapest is host to one of the biggest and most popular European music festivals this summer; the week long ‘Sziget’, which is held in the heart of the city is located on the idyllic Óbuda Danube Island.This is an outdoor event with the capacity for 40.000 people, where three international stars and one of the most well-known Hungarian bands appear every day between 4:30pm and 11:00 pm.
Music fans will be inspired by not only the setting but the wide program available from rock to indie and electronic beats to jazz. Every music fan will find something to suit their taste on the numerous stages.
The highlights include, The Chemical Brothers with their mix of banging hip-hop beats, funk samples and electro-pop, the alternative electronic sounds of Faithless and indie band The Killers.
Other top acts appearing include Pink, The Hives, Nine Inch Nails, Sinead O’Connor and Sportfreunde Stiller. On the World Music stage, Rai star Rachid Taha, Touareg rockers Tinariwen and the Russian disco band Leningrad are on hand to tantilise your musical tastes. Electro-indie fans will get their money’s worth with appearances by Hyper and Hooverphonic. At the Dance Arena, aficionados of electronic dance music will find acts such as DJ Hell, Timo Maas, Goldie and Dave Clarke offering a varied groove programme. In Hammer World, heavy metal will also be on offer, from groups like Hammerfall or Negative.
The display of musical, cultural and culinary offerings will be taking place from 8 to 15 August 2007, with a warm summer atmosphere and party mood to keep you captivated the whole week long.
The Sziget Festival, is also the perfect excuse to visit the lively and captivating city of Budapest and explore its many sights including the remains of “Aquincum” (a Roman garrison and fortress), one of the magnificent museums, the royal castle, fishermen’s bastion, the coronation church or the citadel, a former stronghold on Gellert hill.
And after the partying at the festival experience Budapest’s famous nightlife, or chill out in one of the many restaurants, cafés and bars.
