easyJet couple say “I do” at Prague airport
Many couples are now looking for new and innovative ways to make their wedding day unique without breaking the bank. That’s why a young couple recently entered an easyJet competition in the Czech Republic to win an all expenses paid wedding to be held at the unusual location of Prague Airport.Miloslava Vopelkova and Robert Hruska, both Czech citizens, won out of 120 entrants thanks to their moving story. They felt the airport was a symbolic venue to say ‘I do’ following their long distance relationship which often meant meeting at the airport as they travelled around Europe for studying and work.
On Friday 17 August, the couple were the first in Europe to tie the knot at an airport, with the ceremony in the check-in terminal and photographs with friends and family in front of an easyJet aircraft, creating a great buzz among the passengers who were jetting off on their holidays. The reception, including a sit down meal followed by dancing to a traditional Czech band, was held in the restaurant in departures, before Mr and Mrs Hruska flew off with easyJet on their honeymoon around Europe’s most romantic cities, including Milan, Barcelona, Paris and London.
The bride commented:
"Travelling for jobs and studying separated us in the past and we even said that we were seeing one another mainly at the airport. Prague Airport was for us a place of farewells, short kisses, a place that often divided us for long periods of time. That is why a wedding at the airport is the right thing for us. What divided us in the past will now join us forever."
Samantha Day Press Office Manager said:
"easyJet is all about bringing people together, giving people the opportunity to explore new places and experience new cultures. Many people have meet and fallen in love on our flights, but this is the first time we have had an official easyJet wedding and the first time a wedding has been hosted at an airport. We wish Miloslava and Robert happiness in their lives together and hope they will continue with their passion for travel. Who knows? Perhaps the next event will be the first ever christening at an airport."
