700,000 Brits jet off with easyJet this Bank Holiday

24th August 2007 Print
easyJet, Europe’s leading low fares airline, will fly a record numbers of passengers across Europe this Bank Holiday weekend. Each year easyJet has seen an increase of travellers taking advantage of its great low fares and 2007 has seen a higher number of passengers than ever before.

A record-breaking 700,000 Brits, a 10% increase on last year, will jet off with easyJet in search of some sun this weekend.

Getting away from the miserable UK weather seems to be the reason for the increase in flight bookings and the top five hotspots across Europe are: Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Rome.

The airline's new innovation, easyJetHolidays, has also been popular this year, it allows passengers to combine easyJet's 900 flights with over 10,000 hotels across Europe and has been a hit with those wishing to make an affordable last minute booking.

The top five destinations for Brits this weekend are:

Barcelona
Malaga
Alicante
Faro
Palma (Majorca)

David Osborne, easyJet UK General Manager, commented:

“More people than ever are taking advantage of their last summer Bank Holiday weekend this year with 700,000 passengers jetting off across Europe with easyJet. With the majority of passengers looking to hit the beach and soak up the sun, or taking a city break in Europe's cultural hotspots. Getting away from the unreliable English weather or DIY superstores, seems to be the main objective this weekend”.
