easyJet launches new Bournemouth – Krakow route

1st November 2007 Print
easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, will bring a slice of Polish passion to Bournemouth today for the launch of its new service to Krakow. Traditional Polish dancers will entertain the crowds and distribute traditional Polish gifts at the dual celebrations that will take place in the town centre and at the airport.

First stop is Bournemouth town centre, where shoppers will experience traditional Polish dancers and will be offered a slice of Polish Kopernik cake to tantalise their taste buds. Following the celebrations in the town, the dancers will head off to Bournemouth Airport to entertain passengers checking in for easyJet’s inaugural flight to Krakow, who will be offered tempting Polish baked treats.

To celebrate the launch of this new route, easyJet will surprise the first passenger to check in with two free flights for the airline's next new destination from Bournemouth to Grenoble, which launches on 13 December 2007.

The three times weekly service to Krakow, which operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, will offer fares from £19.99 one way and (£37.98 return) including taxes and the airline expects to carry almost 36,000 passengers during the first 12 months.

David Osborne, easyJet UK General Manager, said:

"This new route from Bournemouth to Krakow is great news for the region's travellers who can now take off to Poland from their local airport.

It is clear there is a strong demand for low-cost flights connecting the UK and Poland, as travellers from Bournemouth embrace the Polish culture and explore Eastern Europe at its best and now the Polish ex-pat community living in the region can visit home more often. The introduction of Krakow will further strengthen these already close ties.”

Peter Duffy, Managing Director Bournemouth Airport, said:

"We are delighted to see easyJet operating from Bournemouth for the third winter running and we are especially pleased that they are extending their route network this year. I am sure all their routes will prove to be a success."
