easyJet announces new Newcastle to Murcia route

easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, announced today it would introduce a new route from Newcastle to the Spanish city of Murcia this spring. The new three times weekly service will commence on 17 May 2008, and seats are available now from just £23.99 one way including tax.

This new destination will be particularly popular as a family hotspot and a mini break destination and easyJet expects to carry 41,000 passengers on this new route in the first 12 months of operation.

David Osborne, easyJet UK General Manager, commented:

“Murcia has proven to be a popular destination from other easyJet bases in the UK and now independent travellers from the North-East can take advantage of this new service from our Newcastle base, to one of the Spain’s most popular city’s which provides easy access to the picturesque Costa Dorada. This new route will increase the number of easyJet destinations from Newcastle to 17, re-enforcing easyJet’s commitment to the North East.”
