easyJet takes off from Birmingham with flights to Geneva

easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, will welcome passengers on-board its first ever flight from Birmingham which takes off for Geneva today. The new daily service will provide the region's travellers with access to the stunning city of Geneva, and gateway to some of the biggest and most popular ski resorts in the world, all at easyJet's famously low fares, from £22.99 one way including taxes.

Passengers checking in for today's inaugural flight will be greeted by Joe Kelly, Acting Managing Director of Birmingham International Airport, and Andy Campbell, easyJet’s Airport Manager. Who will officially open the route and present the first passengers to check in with a gift of two free flights to the airline's next new destination from Birmingham - Grenoble, which commences on 22 December 2007.

Birmingham is the 14th UK airport to be added to easyJet’s operation and takes the total number of airports on the airline’s European-wide network to 79. As the second largest city in the UK, Birmingham has a large catchment area and there is a huge demand for direct low-cost services to Europe.

David Osborne, easyJet UK General Manager, said:

This new route from Birmingham to Geneva is great news for the region's travellers who can take advantage of easyJet's famously low fares this winter from their local airport. We’ve been delighted by the response so far to the new Geneva route, which commences today, as well as the new Grenoble route, which launches on 22 December further proving the demand for great low-fares to major ski hubs across Europe”.
