From Kansas to The Brickhouse

14th April 2010 Print

To coincide with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for the new Dorothy, The Brickhouse cocktail bar and supper-club in East London is hosting a twisted and spectacular Wizard of Oz themed performance run of its own from 14th April to the beginning of May.

Follow the yellow brick road right into the heart of The Brickhouse, which will be transformed into a fantastical land of surreal and colourful performances and surprises. Walls lined with giant swirly lollipops in honour of The Munchkins’ Lollipop Guild greet guests on arrival and the ground floor cocktail bar will be serving a bespoke Oz cocktail selection.

Sip on The Emerald City-tini, a delicious green martini, or if you’re feeling brave, order the terrifying Tornado, a tequila based cocktail served in a high-ball glass. And for those guests (men or women!) who turn up in a pair of ruby red sequinned slippers, they will be rewarded with a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival.

A four course themed menu (£35) designed by Head Chef Matthew Reuther can be enjoyed while watching a host of burlesque beauties, comedic songsters, circus stars and cabaret legends creating an Oz themed spectacular of lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!

For those who want a more casual lighter bite, bar snacks can be ordered from the smaller Munchkin Menu.

On the top mezzanine floor, guests can recline on the beds while watching the original 1939 version of the Wizard of Oz film with Judy Garland, served by staff dressed as Cowardly Lions, Tin Men and Scarecrows.

And if they are feeling left out, party-goers can rummage in an Oz Dressing Up Box of their own, to transform themselves in to an angelic Dorothy in gingham or if they’re feeling naughty, a devilish Wicked Witch of the West.

So click your heels together three times and come down to The Brickhouse for a truly magical night that will leave you feeling somewhere over the rainbow.
