Samsung launches steam version of its dual cook oven

25th February 2011 Print

Samsung has announced the launch of its Dual Cook Steam oven, the first of its kind to offer people the choice of splitting the oven cavity in half to simultaneously cook two separate dishes at two separate temperatures with the option of using steam technology. The Dual Cook Steam oven incorporates steam functionality as an additional cooking option alongside the traditional means offered in the original Samsung Dual Cook.

A new addition to Samsung’s successful Dual Cook range, the oven cavity can now be used either in full or partially for steam cooking. With a total capacity of 65L, the oven can be divided into two sections-a 32L lower section and a 30L upper section. The divider seals both cavities of the oven so that independent cooking programmes can be run without any transfer of odours or flavours between the two. So people can literally cook any two dishes at the same time-for example steamed fish, alongside baked cupcakes.

A wide intuitive LED control panel and Dual Cook divider make the Dual Cook Steam very easy to use. For anyone unsure about what temperature to select for food preparation, cooking guidelines are printed on the inside of the glass oven door for the oven’s selection of 65 automatic cooking menus (40 Easy Auto Menus and 25 Auto Steam Add Menus).

The Dual Cook Steam features a 1L capacity water tank, enough to steam cook for up to one hour. For easy, everyday maintenance, people can simply pour the water through the inlet, press the drainage button and empty the water tank. Cooking with steam reduces fat in food by 20 percent and salt by 11 percent*, and with the Dual Cook Steam, all people have to do is fill the water tank, place items in the Premium Steam Tray, then select their steam mode.

“Due to their hectic lifestyles, our customers are increasingly asking for cooking devices that allow them to cook nutritious meals that can be quickly and easily prepared,” said Nick Bevan, Product Manager for Cooking at Samsung Home Appliances. “We’ve enjoyed huge success with our original Dual Cook oven, and with this new steam integration have the perfect solution for families and busy professionals who don’t necessarily have much time to spend cooking and want healthy, no fuss options.”

This new product development has been made in response to feedback from customers who expressed a desire to be able to cook healthy and nutritious meals with a device that offers a range of conventional cooking options such as baking, roasting, grilling and steaming.

The fact the oven can either be used in its entirety or just one partition makes it exceptionally energy efficient. Whether preparing an entire dinner or just a small side dish, people can select the option that best suits their needs. Rated AAA for energy efficiency, the Dual Cook Steam oven saves up to 25 percent energy when using only the upper cavity for smaller meals.
