Samsung expands ecobubble washing machine range

25th February 2011 Print

Following the successful launch of the ecobubble in September last year, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced several new additions to its range of energy saving washing machines.

Alongside the current 8kg and 7kg premium washers, the ecobubble range now includes super capacity 10kg & 12kg models, the latter being the largest wash capacity in Europe for a standard under-the-counter sized unit. In addition to ensure there is an ecobubble for everyone, entry level 7kg and 8kg models will be launched, as well as 8kg 45cm depth units for the slim-depth segment.

The world’s first washing machine to generate special bubbles, the ecobubble provides the same wash performance using cold water as standard machines offer with hot water. It washes clothes using 70% less energy than standard machines, whilst the bubbles do the rest. These soap rich bubbles are able to penetrate deeper and dissolve faster into fabrics, which saves on energy used for heating water and is much gentler on clothes. In addition to the cold water washing benefits, this technology also boosts performance in warmer washing temperatures.

“Samsung is always looking at ways it can offer its customers high performance appliances that really make a difference to their lives,” said Andrew Jones, Marketing Manager for Samsung Home Appliances, Samsung UK.

“Energy efficient products are becoming more important to people who want to save energy without compromising on wash performance, which our ecobubble range addresses. Equally, we recognise that capacity is also a factor, particularly for families, when choosing a new washer as they want to spend less time doing chores and more time together. So we’re now offering a range of drum sizes so there’s an ecobubble for everyone.”

How it works

ecobubble washers all feature a ‘Bubble Generator’, which uses an initial water intake at the start of the wash cycle to create a concentrated detergent mix. It then injects air, producing a rich soapy foam cushion that appears in the drum seconds after the normal cycle. These special ‘ecobubbles’ soak into fabrics more quickly than by simply using detergent in water.

Most of the detergent has already dissolved by the time the bubbles first reach the drum, and so it penetrates deeper into clothes up to forty times faster than conventional washers in cold water. The process is even faster with warmer wash cycles. The Generator turns off in time to avoid bubbles during rinsing, and because the detergent is so well dissolved, there is also no soap residue or white marks on clothes at the end of the wash.

A 3.5-inch colour LCD controller on the flag ship 12kg Eco Bubble VRT model means it’s easy to navigate and choose the appropriate wash cycles, whilst there is also an energy saving dim mode An added feature on this and other higher capacity models is Samsung’s Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT), a ball balancing system which minimises the level of noise and vibrations, so the washing can be put on at night. Add Samsung’s Quiet Drive motor system which benefits from a ten year motor warranty and consumers will benefit from a market leading quiet washing technology.

Availability

Samsung’s new ecobubble range will be available in the UK from May 2011 from all major high street and online retailers.
