Matthew Langridge: From sports fan to sports star

In 2008 British rower Matthew Langridge won an Olympic silver medal and since then has become a world champion in the sport – not bad for a man who had never tried rowing until being inspired to give it a go after watching Sir Steven Redgrave’s gold medal winning efforts in Atlanta in 1996.
Since then Matthew has become a world beater through not only a natural talent for the sport, but also hard work and perseverance.
As he gets set for another huge year, Matthew is keen to inspire future Olympians and encourage all of us to get active through sport.
In the following video, Matthew recounts his inspiring journey from sports fan to sports star and what it takes to become the best in the world. He’ll also give details of the launch of the Mars Refuel Drink Fund which will see £5,000 donated to sporting individuals, teams and clubs every month from April until the end of September 2011.
