Panasonic launch new fridge-freezers and washing machines

15th March 2011 Print

Panasonic has announced the launch of two new fridge-freezers and seven new washing machines for the UK market. The launch further expands Panasonic’s major domestic appliance product portfolio after their introduction to the European market in 2009.

Already the leader in the domestic Japanese market, Panasonic is bringing to the UK the innovative and energy-saving features on which it has built its reputation at home. The products blend high performance, innovation and ease of use with market-leading energy saving features, all wrapped up in a sleek, stylish design.

“Our products are firmly aimed at the discerning and environmentally conscious consumers who also appreciate a well thought out design” says Subodha Bhatt, Product Manager Major Domestic Appliances at Panasonic UK. “The Panasonic design philosophy is simple: put the consumer first, and develop innovative products with features that make a genuine difference – from prolonging the life of fresh fruit and vegetables with our unique Vitamin-Safe compartment, to a 10kg drum capacity which will wash an average of 50 shirts in one wash load, allowing the user to save time, energy and water when washing their clothes.’’

“Our deep-rooted commitment to the environment runs through the entire product range,” continues Subodha Bhatt. “The energy-saving technologies we have incorporated have appealed to the environmentally-conscious UK consumers so far, and this has at the heart of the development of our product range.”

Fridge-Freezers
New for 2011, the innovative NR-B32FX2 (Stainless Steel) and NR-B32FW2 (Arctic White) Frost Free fridge-freezers which are among the most energy efficient in the industry thanks to Panasonic’s Inverter technology. The Inverter technology uses a system of sensors and microprocessors to automatically select multiple power levels, allowing the product to run on minimal power overnight and at times of low usage, conserving valuable energy.

The construction of both fridge freezers has been developed using complicated advanced computer aided simulations and technical methodology, which has led to the development of a completely redesigned cabinet, a Thermodynamic Cabinet. Each wall has been newly designed to reduce the thickness as much as possible, whilst still achieving the best balance between energy efficiency and internal capacity.

Both models also feature Panasonic’s unique Vitamin-Safe compartment, a separate fruit and vegetable section with its own temperature control (0-5oc) and a high humidity, creating the ideal conditions for fruit and vegetable storage. The compartment features two flashing LED lights to simulate the blue and green hues of sunlight, activating the natural defences in fruit and vegetables to prevent vitamin loss, leading to a healthier lifestyle and supporting the health and vitamin-rich nutrition of the family.

Additional features include Panasonic’s Hygiene Active, a combination of technologies that fight odour and protect against harmful bacteria. The system includes a combined lifetime silver filter, air circulation and LED light system, which eliminate 99.9999% of typical bacteria. This system works in the main refrigerator, Vitamin-Safe and freezer compartments.

Washing Machines
Featuring a massive 10kg dry weight washing capacity (NA-140VG3), or 8kg dry weight (NA-168VG3 and NA-148VG3) the new G Series washers achieve an A+++ in the EU energy efficiency ratings. Like the fridge-freezers, they are one of the most efficient machines in the market and with an increased load capacity of up to 10kg, you can wash less loads saving both time and energy. Also new for 2011, the B Series washers (NA-148VB3, NA-128VB3, NA-147VB3, NA-127VB3) also achieve an impressive A+++ energy rating and offer a load capacity of 7kg or 8kg for those with smaller load requirements.

The G Series features include the efficient Inverter controlled brushless motor, gentler washing Sazanami Drum, HydroActive+ and 3D Sensor technologies, which combine to enable a higher performance wash with a shorter cycle and low water consumption. The Inverter technology changes the motor’s rotation and output based on sensors in the machine to achieve the best possible results, while the HydroActive+ system sprays five water jets in to the drum and clothes, ensuring quicker water penetration, thus reducing water consumption, wash times and therefore the energy consumption.

Perfect Sense technology ensures that whether the load is large, a half or partial load, the machine can automatically choose the best cycle to ensure the optimum balance between energy and water consumption and time, therefore the best washing performance. Just one of the many Eco Ideas incorporated in all of the Panasonic appliances.

In addition, the Eco/Speed function gives the user three flexible washing options. Firstly, a standard wash to achieve a good balance between energy saving and time (the default setting). Secondly, to save energy, the user can select the Eco mode or choose the Third option, Speed mode, to achieve a thorough wash in a shorter time.

The Inverter controlled brushless motor combined with the silent arch side panel design, help to reduce noise levels during the wash and spin cycles, harsh spinning and whining noises become a thing of the past, perfect for open plan kitchen and living spaces in today’s modern homes.

3D Sensor Wash monitors how the laundry is moving inside the machine, and can make adjustments to the speed and rotation to enable the laundry to tumble from the optimal position. This eliminates unbalanced loads, is gentle on clothes, and results in a better performance wash.

Panasonic has also included the Sazanami Drum which is gentler to clothes during the wash process whilst increasing the efficiency during spinning. Finally, the Eco 15°C wash cycle cuts energy usage compared to a standard 30-40°C wash.
