easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has this month been recognised as the best performing airline for online and in-flight ticket sales by Gatwick Express, the non-stop rail-air link between central London and Gatwick Airport.

easyJet has been presented with an engraved crystal trophy as part of Gatwick Express’ strategy to work closer with airlines and recognise their contributions.

Carolyn McCall, CEO at easyJet said: “We really value working with Gatwick Express, which provides such an easy and convenient way for our customers to get to Gatwick Airport. With a dedicated service, Gatwick Express is perfect for our customers to rely on when they are making their journey to the airport to catch one of our flights.”

Chris Burchell, managing director for Southern, said: “We enjoy a strong commercial relationship with the largest airline out of Gatwick Airport and we work closely with easyJet to create a seamless journey for our customers. Around 25% of Gatwick Express passengers come from easyJet with a third of these pre purchasing with easyJet in-flight or online. Our ongoing strategy is to continue to evolve our relationships with all our trade partners and we wanted to acknowledge the contribution of easyJet to our business.”

easyJet passengers benefit from a 10% discount if they buy online before they fly or enjoy the convenience of being able to buy tickets in-flight, saving a queue at the other.
