Graubünden comes to Harrods

4th April 2011 Print

From April 1st Switzerland will be taking over Harrods, one of the most iconic destination shopping venues in the UK.

The famous green flags will be replaced by Swiss red ones which will fly high until April 30th. From April 5th  –  11th it will be all about Graubünden, Switzerland’s number one holiday destination.

Graubünden Tourism will deck out two entire Harrods windows on the famous Brompton Road and customers will have the opportunity to have their photo taken against a beautiful summer alpine backdrop on the Graubünden stand which will also be uploaded onto the official website graubunden.com/harrods. There will also be an exciting consumer competition to win a lakes and mountains trip with Switzerland Travel Centre to the resort of Flims, including a visit to the Zai ski factory on offer throughout this period.

Graubünden, which shares its border with Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein, is Switzerland’s largest canton and includes the world famous resorts of St. Moritz, Flims, Davos Klosters and the excellent train service which includes the Bernina Express. Flims and Davos Klosters provide the perfect setting for hiking and biking and the Bernina Express allows visitors to sample the ‘slowest’ fast train in the world amidst stunning mountainous scenery.

The Bernina Express is an express train connecting Graubünden’s Capital Chur with Tirano in Italy, by crossing the Swiss Alps from north to south. For most of its journey, the train also passes along the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes.

Two spectacular regions create the centre of the Davos Klosters mountain areas - Davos, the highest town in Europe, and Klosters, the lovely mountain village with its unique atmosphere. Davos Klosters is surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery in an idyllic landscape, which offers everything that families, bikers and hikers dream of during a summer in the Alps.

The destination of Flims is made up of the three villages; Flims, Laax and Falera and offers a wide range of leisure activities. Over 330 km of mountain bike trails and more than 250 kilometres of hiking trails lead to countless panoramic rest stops offering uninterrupted views across the beautiful Graubünden mountains.

Take a trip to Harrods this April and experience why Graubünden is as attractive a playground in  summer as it is when covered in snow.
