TAP reaches 1 millionth passenger on flights to Brazil

On December 24 TAP hit another historic number on its flights to Brazil by transporting 1 million passengers for the first time during the same year. In this case, Mario Sergio Limberte who traveled with his wife Dirce Limberte from Sao Paulo to Lisbon, before flying onto Barcelona and then to Porto where they will spend a week before returning to Brazil.

€65,000 raised at Ryanair for Orbis

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it intends to operate all of its flights on 9 and 10 January and 16 and 17 January with the exception of three flights each day. These dates are affected by industrial action, which has been called by the Unite union.

Over 2 million passengers to fly with Ryanair this Christmas

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline today (Wednesday, 19th December 2007) celebrated a record 2 million passengers this Christmas and New Year, uniting friends and families across 26 countries on 605 routes. This is a 20% increase on last year’s holiday traffic and means that Ryanair will carry more international passengers than any other airline in the world this Christmas.

Prestwick-based handling company Ocean Sky had a unique visitor today - Antonov An-225, the world's largest aircraft. Only one has ever been built. The Ukrainian-registered heavy-lift aircraft entered service in 1989 and was designed to "piggyback" the Russian Space Shuttle "Buran".

easyJet launches Speedy Boarding Plus

easyJet, the low-fares airline, has upgraded its Speedy Boarding service and today introduces Speedy Boarding Plus across Europe. The new facility combines Speedy Boarding (which allows passengers the opportunity to pay to be amongst the first to be called to board a flight) with a dedicated check-in service.

Ryanair announce huge European expansion

Ryanair has announced new routes from 7 British Airports, Birmingham, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newquay as part of its biggest ever European expansion which sees 50 new European routes in 2008, including 3 new airports, Angouleme (France), Arad and Constanta (Romania). Three French stars in the Lufthansa sky

Lufthansa launches non-stop service to Angola

Lufthansa is continuing to extend its route network to growth markets in Africa. On 1 April 2008, following the introduction of the summer timetable, a new service will be launched between Frankfurt and the Angolan capital, Luanda. The non-stop route will be operated once a week by an Airbus 340-300 with 221 seats.

SWISS announces more flights to Manchester and Prague

SWISS is making seasonal adjustments to its schedule in response to customer needs. As of December 22, Switzerland's national airline will fly five times weekly from EuroAirport to Manchester. Prague will be served six times weekly from January 10.

TAP offers 208 extra flights to Madeira and the Azores

TAP is to increase its operations to Madeira and The Azores throughout the Christmas and New Year period by offering its passengers 208 extra flights between December 15 2007 and January 6 2008.
