Lufthansa will double the number of flights between Newcastle and Düsseldorf from November. New flight times offer improved onward connections within 35 minutes.
Virgin Atlantic to fly Special Olympics team
Virgin Atlantic is an Official Partner of the British Special Olympics team and will be flying the entire team of athletes and coaches to Shanghai from Heathrow on the 26 September for the 12th Special Olympics being hosted in Shanghai. England goalkeeper David James, an Ambassador for Special Olympics GB, will be joining the athletes to offer them advice and support before they take off.

easyJet launches Luton to Zurich service
easyJet, Europe’s leading low-fares airline, today launched a new twice daily service to Zurich, with fares from just £27.99 one way. The airline expects to carry more than 160,000 passengers on the route over the next 12 months.
Emirates acquires share in Alpha Flight Services Australia
Emirates, the Dubai-based airline and travel services provider has reached an agreement to acquire a 49 per cent interest in Alpha Flight Services Australia – a leading provider of in-flight catering services in Australia. As part of the agreement, Alpha Flight Services will provide in-flight catering for Emirates flights from Australia starting January 2008.
Ryanair announces new Malta to Venice route
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline has announced a new route from Malta to Venice Treviso, its 8th new route since bringing low fares to Malta in October last year. Since then Ryanair has delivered on its commitment to growth, generating a 12% increase in passengers flying to / from Malta this summer.
Virgin Atlantic increases Premium Economy offering
Surging passenger demand has led to Virgin Atlantic fitting out its entire Heathrow fleet with its new Premium Economy seat. With its Airbus aircraft already fitted the 747 fleet at Heathrow will offer the new seat onboard by Christmas, allowing more passengers to benefit from the widest leather seat in its class and enhanced onboard service which includes many dedicated services.
Lufthansa and SWISS promote climate protection
From 17 September, Lufthansa passengers will have a further opportunity to play an active role in tackling climate change. Via the independent partner organisation myclimate, ecologically aware air travellers can invest specifically in climate protection projects. Flybe slashes Jersey to Gatwick prices
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, is today announcing the introduction of two additional services during peak commuter travel times on its popular Jersey to London Gatwick route that will boost its daily return service on this key route to six a day.
Norwegian launches new Gatwick – Stavanger route
Norwegian, Scandinavia’s largest low fares airline, will start a new route from London-Gatwick to Stavanger from the 2nd of November. The route will initially be served with four weekly frequencies and is Norwegian’s sixth route from London.
Strong growth continues at Austrian
The Austrian Airlines Group carried 7.28 million passengers in the first eight months of 2007. In the short and medium-haul segment passenger numbers were up 8.3% on the previous year, this trend continued in August with further growth of 8%.
Silverjet announces new route to Dubai
Award-winning British business class airline Silverjet today announced it will begin flying from London to Dubai from November this year - the first business class only airline to launch a non transatlantic service and the first commercial carrier in the world to offer a private terminal experience at both ends of the journey.
Aer Lingus rejects Ryanair EGM request
The Board of Aer Lingus Group plc has today (17th September 2007) written to the Directors of Ryanair Holdings plc rejecting a second request from Ryanair to convene an EGM, stating “the aim of which is to interfere with and frustrate the commercial and operational performance of Ryanair's most resilient competitor.”
