Toronto welcomes Emirates’ arrival
In preparation for its anticipated arrival in Toronto, Emirates Airline hosted its signature roadshow event to introduce its award winning products and services to travel and cargo agents. Emirates begins flying non-stop between Toronto and Dubai on 29th October operating its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route.

Emirates joins Plano’s Balloon Festival
Emirates Airline is taking its high flying message to the international balloon festival, spread across five countries and three continents. To mark its first stop in the United States, the Emirates balloon touched down at the Plano Balloon Festival, Texas, over the weekend.

Spanair consolidates operations in Bilbao
Proof of its firm commitment to Bilbao, Spanair has doubled its efforts to achieve the operational capacity for extra destinations to and from the Biscayan city with respect to 2006. Thus, in 2007 an inaugural service to and from Fuerteventura has been launched, also operating in the winter season and flights to Jerez de la Frontera and Munich were added to the large number of routes between Bilbao and Spanish cities.
Spanair increases Girona - Costa Brava Airport flights
From the 1st of October, Spanair will add a new flight to its Madrid-Girona timetable, which will now feature 4 daily return flights from Monday to Friday, in view of the great response received from customers using the route.
SWISS to invest over 1 billion in fleet renewal
SWISS is to invest substantially more than CHF 1 billion in renewing its intercontinental aircraft fleet, replacing nine Airbus A330-200s with bigger and more advanced A330-300s. With the service entry of the new aircraft, SWISS will provide First Class cabins throughout its long-haul fleet.
SWISS enhances product and network
SWISS customers will soon be able to enjoy an improved product on the ground and in the air. The acquisition of four additional Airbus A320 aircraft allows SWISS to add new European destinations to its timetable and increase existing services. A major expansion of SWISS facilities at Zurich and Geneva airports provides customers with a relaxing, personalised travel experience.
TAP flies to Pamplona
TAP is to maintain flights between Lisbon and Pamplona previously operated by Portugalia, six times a week – daily flights except for Saturdays - departing from Lisbon at 1:55pm and arriving in Pamplona at 4:45pm. From the capital Navarre, flights leave at 5:25pm and arrive in Lisbon at 6:25pm.
Launch of new Congolese airline
The Brussels Airlines Group together with Hewa Bora Airways of Congo has created a new Congolese airline. The new airline will operate according to international standards from Kinshasa and offer both domestic and international flights.
VLM Airlines introduces new Luxembourg schedule
VLM Airlines introduces new schedule for the Luxembourg – London City route and further strengthens its Luxembourg – Manchester connection. VLM Airlines has been operating the route Luxembourg – London City since 1998, and offers more flights at London City airport than any other airline.

Virgin Atlantic goes fair-trade
Virgin Atlantic is pleased to announce that it’s now offering Fairtrade tea and coffee to all passengers. The airline served nearly seven million cups of coffee and over five million cups of tea onboard flights in 2006 so a switch to these products will be a significant boost for farmers who are supplying the Fairtrade market.
Travelling to Spain with Monarch?
After a tentative launch in June 2007, the Spanish authorities are now (from 19th September 2007) fully implementing entry procedures, similar to those used in the US. All passengers travelling on flights to Spain are required to provide additional information prior to their flight.
Monarch to introduce new baggage charges
From this week low fares airline, flyMonarch.com will be introducing a new baggage charge scheme for all hold baggage checked in on its scheduled flights. In line with other UK low fares airlines, flyMonarch.com will be implementing a charge for each bag that is checked in on flights departing after 01 November 2007.
Ryanair announces two new routes from Cork
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline has this week announced two new routes from its Cork base to East Midlands and Glasgow. The new routes will start on 13th December and will operate daily, bringing the number of Ryanair destinations offered from Cork to 6.

Aer Arann endorses easyJet’s call to end APD
Aer Arann, one of Europe’s fastest growing regional airlines, announces its support for the removal of the current flat-rate Air Passenger Duty tax (APD). Aer Arann is strongly in favour of tax that encourages airlines to invest in the most environmentally-efficient aircraft for their routes, and believe that the current tax discourages airline investment in environmentally friendly technology.
