Hilary Bradt to receive MBE
Pioneering publisher and traveller Hilary Bradt has been included in this year’s Birthday Honours List published by Buckingham Palace on 14th June 2008 ‘for services to the tourist industry and to charity’. The honour acknowledges Hilary’s achievements in opening up new destinations and encouraging ‘responsible tourism’, even before the phrase was coined. Sun Valley Resort prepares for summer lift service
Sun Valley Resort, Idaho – home to the award-winning Trail Creek Golf Course and soon-to-open White Clouds Golf Course – has announced the summer lift service on Bald Mountain will begin June 28. Due to a U.S. Forest Service mandate protecting elk calving season, mountain bikes will be allowed on the lifts starting July 1.

El Gouna celebrates library opening
On May 5 the El Gouna Library was officially inaugurated by First Lady Suzanne Mubarak. After the inaugural plaque was unveiled and the customary ribbon cut, presentations included a digital demonstration of the book repository. The El Gouna Library is affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and its ink-and-paper collection is thus far comprised of 750 books donated by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, completed by an impressive array of online resources and digital collections.
