Volvo adds EGR exhaust gas recirculation to 13-litre engine
Volvo Trucks is widening its engine range with the launch of a D13 engine featuring EGR exhaust gas recirculation. The engine is available in four power output levels and is certified for current emission requirements according to Euro 4 – but without after-treatment of exhaust gases. Volvo is the first truck manufacturer in the world with this solution.

Volvo launches self-sealing tyres for construction trucks
The Volvo Group, in close co-operation with Goodyear Dunlop, has launched self-sealing tyres for construction trucks. These tyres, with Duraseal technology, automatically seal the damage – permanently.
Volvo invests in new production facility for trucks in Russia
The Volvo Group is investing a total of SEK 935 M in an assembly facility for trucks in Russia. The investment is being made to meet increasing demand on the fast-growing markets in Russia and the former countries in the Soviet Union. The new facility will have a capacity of 10,000 Volvo trucks and 5,000 Renault trucks per year.

80-year-old Volvo rolling better than ever
Volvo’s first truck had 28 horsepower and could carry 1.5 tonnes. Today’s largest Volvo is the most powerful production truck in the world with its 660 hp engine capable of hauling 200 tonnes.

80th anniversary truck launched with new safety systems
Just in time for Volvo’s 80th anniversary, Volvo Trucks is unveiling an exclusive ‘limited edition’ jubilee version of the Volvo FH and FH16 models. Among the many unique features is a specially designed interior and ultra-high driver comfort, but above all, Volvo has focused heavily on safety. For example, the ‘Anniversary’ truck is the first Volvo truck with Lane Keeping Support -a new system that alerts the driver if the truck accidentally strays from its lane.
Reduced accident risk with Volvo’s active safety system
Since 2001, fatal accidents on the European road network have dropped by about 20 percent. The EU target is to halve this figure by 2010. One way of reducing risks in traffic is to integrate accident-preventive active safety systems into the vehicles themselves.

New rear-view mirrors give better visibility both front and rear

Volvo to invest in cab production in France
AB Volvo’s Board of Directors has decided to invest SEK 530 M in subsidiary Renault Trucks’ cab plant in Blainville, France. The investment is being made to increase capacity and comprises both assembly and painting.

Volvo says Yuan in safe hands
Volvo Truck Corporation has received an order for 76 distribution trucks from the People’s Bank of China, contributing to a total fleet of 425 Volvo trucks already owned by the Bank – the largest single Volvo fleet in China.

Kier Plant goes Volvo with FM-380 rigids
Kier Plant – an arm of leading construction, development and service group, Kier – has taken delivery of two Volvo FM-380 6x2 Euro 4 rigid trucks, basing the decision on Volvo’s reputation in the industry. Operating from depots at Liverpool and Sharpness and running at 26 tonnes GVW, the trucks will be used for transporting temporary site accommodation, telehandlers and general plant.

First Volvo Trucks for Arclid Transport
Cheshire-based, Arclid Transport have added two new vehicles to their fleet – their first ever Volvo trucks - which took to the road at the beginning of March.
