SAS finalizes trade union agreements
The SAS Group has reached an agreement with its trade unions that is expected to lead to approximately SEK 1.5 billion in cost savings. As discussed in the SAS Group Interim Report from the third quarter of 2008, SAS believes it has a total cost gap of approximately SEK 4 billion compared to relevant benchmarks. The cost gap is now being reduced to SEK 2.5 billion.

VLM Airlines launches Eindhoven - London City route
VLM Airlines will from this week operate flights between London City Airport and Eindhoven, with two services every weekday and a daily flight on Sundays. The route was previously flown by CityJet, VLM Airlines’s partner airline.
Ryanair reports 1.5 million seats sold this week
Ryanair today (Friday, 16th January 2009) announced that it had recorded it best ever week of sales with over 1.5 million seats sold between Friday, 9th and Thursday, 15th January. The airline also recorded its best ever one day sales with over 350,000 seats snapped up by bargain hungry passengers on Monday.

Air France, Delta and KLM introduce Joint Sales Contracts

These contracts will ensure commercial efficiency across the region between the three airlines and corporate clients, and are a key milestone in the progress of the joint venture agreement, which sees Air France and Delta share costs and revenues across the transatlantic.

Air France reinforces co-operation with Alitalia
Air France-KLM and Alitalia have reached an agreement to strengthen their partnership cemented by Air France-KLM taking a minority stake in Alitalia. This agreement will give Air France-KLM greater access to the Italian market thanks to Alitalia which, following its acquisition of Air One, has reinforced its position on the domestic market.
airBaltic passenger numbers up on previous year
The Latvian airline airBaltic during the twelve months of 2008 transported a total of 2,590,357 passengers, or 29% more than during the same period in 2007, when the total number of passengers was 2,007,150.
Top marks for Austrian Airlines
It’s another top placing for Austrian Airlines: readers of business travel magazine Business Traveller have once again voted the airline into first place in the “Food & Drink” category. The Austrian airline also achieved an outstanding second place in the overall evaluation of the region’s best airlines in the “Best Airline in Europe” category, as well as second places for the level of service offered on board and on the ground, and for its cabin comfort. Finally, Austrian was awarded a third place for its safety provisions.
