Air Southwest customers flying with just hand baggage from Newquay and Plymouth can now take advantage of a new express service, allowing them to check-in just 20 minutes before their scheduled flight departure time.

Air Southwest names new Managing Director

Air Southwest has named Peter Davies as its new managing director. Peter has more than 27 years experience in aviation including chief executive of SN Brussels Airlines, Belgium’s national airline, where he managed a staff of more than 2,000 and a fleet of 38 aircraft.

bmi doubles services to Saudi capital, Riyadh

bmi has started operating a six times a week service to Riyadh – doubling the number of flights to the Saudi Arabian capital. Connecting to even more destinations across the Middle East, bmi flights to Riyadh will now go onwards to Dammam on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and onwards to Jeddah on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

The SAS Group has signed an agreement with StatoilHydro regarding air travel valued at almost NOK 3 billion. The agreement is for three years with the option of a two-year extension.

Ryanair calendar raises €100,000 for charity

Ryanair today (Tuesday, 20th January 2009) presented Dublin Simon Community with a cheque for €100,000 after all 10,000 copies of its 2009 Ryanair Cabin Crew Charity Calendar sold out in just four weeks. Dublin Simon Community (which provides vital services for the homeless in Dublin) was chosen from over 100 charities throughout Europe to receive the entire sale proceeds from the 2009 calendar.

Icelandair temporarily suspends Glasgow service

Due to the current economic conditions and a projected decrease in passenger traffic, Icelandair will temporarily suspend service from Glasgow from 26th March 2009 until 27th August 2009, with the exception of the Easter period flights on 9th and 12th April. Following the suspension, service will resume with two flights a week to Iceland, connecting onwards to six North American destinations.
