Flybe outperforms major airlines for on-time record
Flybe reports that it has outperformed many major carriers for its on-time record in June 2008 at the 10 leading UK airports featured in the latest Civil Aviation Authority report. Punctuality statistics just released by the Civil Aviation Authority confirm Flybe beat the likes of British Airways, Easyjet, Ryanair, Lufthansa, BMIBaby, Air France, Jet2, BMI and City Jet all of which failed to make the top 10 list.
Flybe announces record annual pre-tax profits
Flybe, one of Europe’s largest and most successful regional airline, has announced record financial results for the year ending 31 March 2008, with a 46% increase in turnover to £535.9 million and an underlying profit before tax of £35.4million, representing an improvement of £20m over the previous year.

Ryanair announces postponement Edinburgh Base
Ryanair has announced that it has had to postpone the opening of its Edinburgh base as a result of strike action at airplane manufacturer Boeing. The six week deferral of the opening, from 23rd September to 5th November is as a result of Boeing being unable to deliver the new aircraft Ryanair has purchased to operate on its new Edinburgh routes.
Ryanair announces new routes from Liverpool, East Midlands & Stansted
Ryanair has announced the launch of a three routes from the UK which will connect Liverpool and East Midlands with Paris (Beauvais) and London Stansted with Agadir in Morocco. Ryanair will operate daily services to Paris (Beauvais) from Liverpool from 3rd November and East Midlands from 28th October while Ryanair’s London Stansted service will offer a twice weekly return service to Agadir.
United issues statement following erroneous bankruptcy claims
United Airlines this week said reports that the company filed for bankruptcy are completely untrue and were caused by the irresponsible posting of a 6-year-old Chicago Tribune article by the Florida Sun Sentinel newspaper website with the date changed. The story was related to United’s 2002 bankruptcy filing, and United has demanded a retraction from the Sun Sentinel and is launching an investigation. United exited bankruptcy in February 2006.
Stars align in United's 'Heart' commercial
United Airlines has released a documentary on the making of its “Heart” television commercial, giving customers a behind-the-scenes look at the studio recording of the ad's musical score by Grammy award-winning American jazz legend, Herbie Hancock, and world-renowned Chinese classical pianist, Lang Lang. The two performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue together at the Grammy Awards earlier this year.
