Delta hits the slopes with USSA

Lufthansa to open Frankfurt to Bergen route

Next summer, Lufthansa is opening a new route from Frankfurt to Bergen. The new Lufthansa service, which will operate twice daily, year round, will be launched on 30 March 2008, when the summer timetable goes into effect. Bergen is the third destination in Norway after Oslo and Stavanger to be served from Frankfurt by Germany’s largest carrier.

Lufthansa comes out on top for business travel

Readers of Business Traveller Deutschland magazine have ranked Lufthansa first in a total of eight categories for the year 2007. The airline is valued highly by business travellers because of its high safety standards. In the publication’s latest survey, Lufthansa came out top on domestic German and European routes as well as on flights to North and South America, the Middle East and Africa.

Monarch expands onboard recycling programme

Following the successful launch of its full onboard recycling programme on Gatwick flights in October, award winning airline Monarch, is extending the initiative to include all flights operating into Birmingham International Airport. The extension of the scheme will mean that all aluminium, plastic, glass and paper used during these flights will now be recycled after landing.

Swiss International Air Lines has again been voted “Best Airline for Europe” by the readers of Germany’s reputed Business Traveller magazine. Switzerland’s quality airline secured the top spot in the 2007 Business Traveller Awards in the individual “Cabin Crew”, “Ground Services and Lounges” and “Cabin Comfort” categories to earn overall first place as “Best Airline for Europe” and maintain the success it had achieved in last year’s Awards.

VLM Airlines passenger numbers up in 2007

VLM Airlines carried a total of 745,781 passengers in 2007 – a 9 per cent increase over 2006. The total number of scheduled passengers increased by 6 per cent to 697,781, whilst the number of passengers using the airline’s charter and wet lease flights increased sharply by 62 per cent to 48,000.
