Budget airline Iceland Express celebrated its fifth anniversary on February 27. On that day in 2003 the inaugural flight from Keflavík to Copenhagen and London was airborne, starting an active competition between international carriers in Iceland that travellers welcomed with open arms. The number of passengers has increased every year, as well as destinations.
Greater choice of flights from Stansted to Manchester
There will be even more choice of services to benefit travellers as Eastern Airways introduces additional flights from London Stansted to Manchester. The UK regional airline, which reintroduced services to Manchester after Air Berlin withdrew from the route in October 2007, will increase flights from three to four each week day from 7 April 2008. Greater convenience and choice will appeal to business commuters.

Austrian reports fault with landing gear display
An aircraft of the type Dash 8-400 took off from Nuremberg for Vienna at 07.45 on Monday 25th February carrying 67 passengers. As the aircraft was approaching Vienna, the pilot became aware of a fault with the main display, which shows the full extent to which the landing gear has lowered and locked into position, but that the alternative display showed it was still functioning correctly.
bmi calls for airport expansion
The Institute of Directors (IoD) in association with bmi has published a report that surveys business leaders’ attitudes towards air travel. The report, entitled ‘High Fliers: business leaders’ view on air travel’, surveyed 500 IoD members.
bmibaby announce developments at Manchester Airport

Heathrow weather delays slashed by mixed mode, says BA
Weather delays at Heathrow could be cut by up to two thirds by more flexible use of the two existing runways, according to British Airways. An analysis by the airline examined the effects of Heathrow's method of runway operation, where arrivals are confined to one runway at a time, on flight delays in conditions of high winds.
