New republic on the roof of the world
After 239 years of a monarchy that had increasingly become a symbol of oppression, Nepal has just recently celebrated its first day as a new republic. Newly-appointed Prime Minister, Girija Prasad Koirala, said “The nation’s dream has come true”. The return of the giant paella!
Valencian chefs will be back in London to cook a giant paella at the Taste of Spain Festival in Borough Market (Green Market area) next Thursday, 5th June, following the huge success of a similar event at last year’s festival when more than 1000 hungry visitors enjoyed a delicious plate of the traditional rice dish.

Beyond the Great Wall
The Great Wall is a highlight of any visit to China. Stretching over 4,000 miles, from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Nur in the west, the Great Wall of China was built mainly to protect the Chinese Empire from the Mongolians and other invaders from the 6th century BC. Successive dynasties have all had a hand in repairing, re-building and preserving the wall, and Chairman Mao once claimed that ‘he who has not climbed the Great Wall of China is not a true man’.

Transformed art gallery set for public opening
On Friday, November 14, the fully-transformed Art Gallery of Ontario will open to the public with three days of free admission.
