Lufthansa adjusts fuel surcharge on European and long-haul routes

In recent weeks, crude oil and kerosene prices have continued to rise and have now reached an all-time high. In response to this development, Lufthansa is adjusting its fuel surcharge on all its flights.

A map of the world made of multicolored dots and the slogan “One Nature – One World – Our Future” is the logo that has adorned the fuselage of the Lufthansa Boeing 747 named “Bonn” since the end of March 2008. As airborne ambassador, this aircraft has meanwhile been drawing attention around the world to the UN Conference on Biological Diversity to take place in Bonn from May 19 to 30.

Forty years ago to the day, 24 "Red Caps" turned up for work at the launch in Frankfurt of Lufthansa’s special service for people in need of assistance. Their job is to help and host "mothers with small children, unaccompanied minors, elderly people and disabled passengers especially in the airport area," as a Lufthansa press release put it in 1968.

Lufthansa introduces non-stop business jet service to Pune

Lufthansa is further expanding its services to key Indian cities for business and leisure travellers alike. From 1 July 2008, Germany’s largest airline will launch a new route from Frankfurt to Pune in western India. In all comfort passengers will be able to reach Pune non-stop, six times a week in an Airbus A319 which has been refitted as a Business Jet.

Lufthansa named number one for punctuality at Heathrow

Lufthansa is officially the most reliable airline operating from London Heathrow Airport following the publication of Punctuality Statistics for 2007. The figures for the 30 largest scheduled airlines serving Heathrow show that the average delay on Lufthansa’s 20,810 flights during the year on was just 12.22 minutes. This is more than seven minutes less than the average delay at the airport.

Lufthansa and Ethiopian Airlines launch codeshare flights

From 4 April 2008, Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa passengers can fly with either airline on routes between Frankfurt and the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Customers will then have a choice of seven flights per week on this route.

Exclusive Lufthansa terminal area opened in Frankfurt

The new passenger handling area between the C and D concourses in Terminals 1 and 2 will be officially inaugurated at Frankfurt Airport today. With two waiting levels and amply dimensioned bridges, the new pier in the passageway linking the C and D concourses meets optimally all the requirements for operations with Lufthansa’s future flagship, the Airbus A380.

Lufthansa expands private jet fleet

Lufthansa is building up its own private jet fleet in the course of this year. The first of the new aircraft, a Cessna Citation CJ3, is due for delivery to the airline in April. All in all, nine new private jets will be entering service in the coming months.

Lufthansa is expanding its route network considerably in the summer timetable 2008 with 15 new destinations, taking the total to 207 destinations in 81 countries. The expansion focuses on long-haul routes to growth markets in North America and Asia.
