This week sees the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship back at St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie from 4 to 7 October 2007. This unique golf event brings together the best professional golfers and some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry from Hugh Grant to Samuel L. Jackson. This year sees Dennis Hopper and Ronan Keating return and they will be joined by stars such as Kyle MacLachlan and Ray Romano.
Treasures on display at Fashion Museum
The latest display at Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Fashion Museum includes twenty pairs of beautifully decorated gloves from the Gloves’ Collection Trust, all intricately embroidered in a variety of materials from tiny seed pearls to sparkling metal thread. The current display also includes five pieces of silver ware of comparable date, and of a similar high quality, which have been generously lent to the Museum by the Holburne Museum of Art.
Party time in Florida’s Key West
There is still time for fans of the flamboyant to join in the wacky wonderland of Key West’s Fantasy Fest. Themed “Gnomes, Toads & White Rabbit Tea Parties,” the wild romp is from Friday 19th to Sunday 28th October. Last-minute holidays are available from £869 per person with Virgin Holidays.

Snow fall signals end of summer in Whistler
A week after the end of summer, Mother Nature is switching gears to bring winter to the mountains in a major way. Whistler Blackcomb in Canada received its second dusting of snow in a week this past weekend, with up to 30cm of snow falling in the alpine on Saturday night; the snowline making it all the way to the valley. Another 18cm of snow is expected in the next 24 hours with more forecast throughout the week.
