Cadillac has confirmed that the all-new 2008 CTS will make its world premiere in January 2007 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Sales of the award-winning luxury car are expected to begin in Europe towards the end of 2007.

Twenty classic Cadillacs enter London to Brighton run

A fleet of 20 pre-1905 Cadillacs will be taking part in the 110th Anniversary London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) on Sunday November 5. A grand total of 492 cars are expected at the event, which departs London’s Hyde Park at sunrise (7.07 am) for the 60-mile run to Brighton.

While Corvette Racing capped Corvette's 50th anniversary in international motor racing with victories in the American Le Mans Series manufacturers’, drivers’ and teams’ championships, Team Cadillac scored a podium finish in the final round of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT, to claim 3rd place in the manufacturers’ final standings. Both season finales took place at Laguna Seca Raceway in California on October 21 and 22 respectively.

The Cadillac BLS 1.9 Turbo Diesel made its debut in the 2006 AA / ALD Automotive MPG Marathon on October 4 and 5. The two Cadillacs taking part achieved overall fuel economy of 55.6 mpg and 52.1 mpg respectively, placing them 2nd and 3rd in class on fuel consumption achieved, over the testing 360-mile route in the West Country.

Crucial win for Team Cadillac in road Atlanta Speed GT

Team Cadillac produced a championship-calibre performance in the ninth round of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT at Road Atlanta on September 30. Andy Pilgrim scored nine valuable points in the manufacturers’ championship with his first victory since joining Team Cadillac. Team mate Ron Fellows finished third in his Cadillac CTS-V after a wild finish that saw the Canadian racer with four tyres on the grass in the last turn. As a result, Cadillac has gained critical ground in the SPEED GT manufacturers’ championship, in joint second place and just five points behind the leader. Pilgrim has also moved to second place in the drivers’ standings.

Cadillac engineers have just put the finishing touches to a unique reconstruction of a car that starred in one of the world’s toughest auto races over 50 years ago. The 1954 privately-entered Cadillac Series 62 coupe challenged tough competition from factory-backed teams on the 1,864 mile-long Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico, beating all rivals on the final two stages.

Record-breaking heat gave way to a history-making performance on Sunday July 23 as Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta notched up Corvette Racing's 50th international road racing victory in Portland, Oregon. The duo’s Corvette C6.R finished a comfortable 54.8 seconds ahead of the second-placed Aston Martin DBR9, while Corvette teammates Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell finished third. Beretta and Gavin’s 5th win of the year strengthened their hold on the American Le Mans Series GT1 championship with 106 points, 12 ahead of their Aston Martin rivals. Fellows and O'Connell are currently third in the championship race with 90 points.

Cadillac and Corvette will debut at the British International Motor Show by showcasing the full range of models available for sale in Europe. Cadillac will feature the all-new right-hand drive BLS range of premium midsize saloons supported by the right-hand drive executive saloon, the CTS. Also on display will be the versatile, all-wheel drive SRX (available with right-hand drive later this year), the luxury STS saloon, the XLR roadster and the new Escalade. The Cadillac range offers arguably the widest choice of engines from a 1.9 litre turbo-diesel developing 150 hp through to a 6.2 litre V8 with 409 hp. The British International Motor Show is being held at ExCeL, London from July 20 to July 30 inclusive.
