Ofwat to fine Thames Water £12 million

Water watchdog Ofwat has today said that it plans to fine Thames Water over £12 million.

Leakage falls by daily need of one million consumers

Water companies in England and Wales reduced the amount of water lost to leakage by nearly 160 million litres of water (Ml/d) a day. This is equal to the daily needs of around one million domestic consumers.

Competition Commission orders price reduction following water merger

South East Water Limited (South East Water) and Mid Kent Water Limited (Mid Kent Water) will be required to make a one-off price reduction to their customers totalling £4 million following the Competition Commission’s (CC’s) inquiry into the merger between the two companies.

Water bills set to rise on average by 7%

Household budgets are set to be stretched even further when planned increases to water bills come into effect on 1st April, taking the average household bill for 2007 to £312. Water customers in England and Wales will see their bills rise by an average of 7% in April.
